Artists > Anselmo Ballester
Born in 1897. Died in 1974. Worked from 1936-1960
Anselmo Ballester, himself the son of a painter and graphic artist, studied painting and figure drawing in Rome in the first part of the 1900′s. By 1911, it is said that he was already creating his first sketches for film posters, which would soon become his specialty. Ballester along with his contempories, Alfredo Capitani and Luigi Martinati, together formed a company called BCM (for Ballester-Capitani-Martinati). Between them, they produced the finest collection of movie poster art imaginable.
